Who does your printing and why?
My prints (and my cards) are made to order by the amazing people at Canvas Plus in Ladysmith, BC.
After trialing several Print On Demand companies, I have found that the best quality and service is right here at home, which suits my value of supporting local businesses! Win-win!
What kinds of prints do you make?
My Archival Giclees on paper are printed with Epson SureColor P20000 on 300 gsm Breathing Color Fine Art Elegance Velvet paper. This acid-free, matte cotton-rag archival paper is elegantly textured for a mould-made feel.
My Archival Museum quality Canvas Giclees are on Breathing Color LYVE canvas, OBA free, for incredible dMax and sharp detail, on 1.5" deep stretcher bars (responsibly sourced from sustainable paulownia wood), finished with either Mirror or Museum Wrap Sides, and coated with Breathing Color Timeless Satin Coatings (certified 100+ year archival by the Fine Art Trade Guild).
The Epson printer inks used are 200 year lightfast for colour as certified by the Wilhelm Institute.
What kind of ink do your prints use?
Prints are made with professional Epson printer with inks that are 200 year lightfast for colour and 400 years for black & white prints, as certified by the Wilhelm Institute.
What kind of paint and mediums do you use?
I use only professional grade acrylics and mediums - to ensure quality.
I use metallic leaf and seal it with Golden MSA varnish to prevent tarnishing.
What do you paint on?
I paint on canvas that has been at least triple primed, and birch panels treated with PVA size - to last a lifetime without discolouring.
When I think I might embellish with metal leaf, I will start with at least 2 coats of Molding paste to smooth out the texture of whatever surface I'm using. It makes the bling shine better.
Is it real gold leaf?
It is imitation gold leaf - for a luxurious appearance without the toxic gilding chemicals.
I use careful handling and varnishing techniques to avoid discolouring or tarnishing.
Can I return a print if I change my mind?
My prints are specially made to order.
However, your satisfaction is paramount.

What framing options are available?
Most of the time my artwork will arrive unframed - leaving room for your imagination & to ensure that the frame fits perfectly with your space.
In some cases, the frame is included in the sale of the work, like if you buy it from one of my exhibitions.

My commission prices depend on size and complexity, and are in line with the pricing of my other (non-commissioned) works.
Please contact me directly for a quote tailored to your specific project via the from on my commission page.
How long does it take to complete a commission?
The timeframe for completing a commission can vary depending on the complexity of the piece and my current availability.
It's best to discuss your needs by contacting me directly via the from on my commission page and I can provide an estimated completion date.
Can I request a specific subject for my commission?
Absolutely. I specialize in landscapes, but I would love to work with you if there is something of special significance you'd like me to paint.
How do I install or hang an original painting?
My original paintings, although unframed, will come with hanging hardware. Some people like to display their work unframed or on shelves.
I recommend taking it to a local frame shop for framing, however. A good frame serves two purposes:
1) it prevents warping over time and
2) it acts like an "eyebrow" for the painting. You don't really pay attention to eyebrows, usually...but you kinda know something's missing if they aren't there.
How do I care for and maintain my original piece?
Your original painting should be protected from the direct sun, wind, smoke, rain, kids and other sticky-fingered folks, pets and foods) and dusted lightly with a lint-free cloth from time to time.
Are deposits for commissions refundable?
Deposits are non-refundable as they cover initial materials and time spent on your the design & palette planning.
Can commissioned works be shipped internationally?
Yes, international shipping can be arranged for commissioned works, with the artwork securely packaged and shipped.
For larger pieces, shipping costs can be greatly reduced by removing the canvas from the stretcher bars. You can have your favourite local framer stretch and frame on your end.
Do you offer gift certificates for prints, originals, or commissions?
Yes! Gift certificates can be a wonderful way to share the gift of art. Please contact me to arrange a gift certificate for prints or towards a commissioned piece via my contact page.
