Dawn's Threshold

Kootenay Lake is a long narrow lake with sheer cliffs jutting from the water. Near Campbell Bay and Goldsmith Bench, the faint haze of distant forest fires makes the dawn light slightly orange, Here, we rest in cool blue shadow as the sun peeks over the mountains.

All my best memories come from being with my family, and some of the most magical ones take place here. The safe, peaceful feeling of being seen, loved and accepted for exactly who I am (even with - or maybe because of - my weirdnesses) - this is the feeling I'm trying to evoke with this painting.
