My favourite people joined me for a birthday dinner at Janevca, where I was stopped in my tracks by a hyperrealistic oil painting of a rose.
I loved the style, but I am more inspired by the endemic blooms and foliage of the Pacific Northwest.
In response, I created this close up of the rusting leaves of some Oregon Grape. It is 24x24", in a hand-made shadow frame stained black.
Its sister painting is Salal.

Like all paintings, keep out of direct sunlight, and avoid large fluctuations in temperature and humidity.
Keep away from ovens and stoves which can lead to oily deposits over time.
Dust the frame with a soft dry cloth.
Keep the painting dust free by wiping gently with a lightly damp, lint-free cloth as needed.
