Convergence

In the first lockdown of Covid 19 in 2020, we were scared. We didn't know even how the virus was transmitted, so we sanitized our groceries, our doorknobs, our hands. We masked, and double masked. We social distanced. There were signs that said "stay 6 feet apart" with pictures of people holding out ski poles to give a sense of scale. Our disconnected world suddenly felt so much more disconnected.

But as with so many crises, it laid the seeds for opportunity. We slowed down. We considered who we loved and found ways to prioritize connecting with them. We banged pots and pans and gave encouragement and, for a moment, we were kind to one another.

We found ways to connect and converge - for me it was outdoor adventures with friends, often at Swan Lake. In the tall grasses by the little bridge over the stream, we walked, waiting for the world to reopen, but revelling in the beauty available to us right then.
